Highlights of 2023
2023 saw the graduation of five athletes from the US Scholarship program. Of the graduates, one commenced his scholarship in 2019 and three others commenced in 2021, but due to disruptions as a result of the covid pandemic some scholarships were delayed and others put on hold so it was a great accomplishment for these young people to finally gain their diplomas.
Two of the graduates have moved to further their studies in the United States and another is studying in Australia.
We hope that swimming scholarships will again be offered in 2024 as due to the College Coach moving to another institution and delays in the appointment of his replacement, there was insufficient time before the academic year commenced in the States this year to call for nominations.
Our current scholarship recipient at Griffith University, Adrine Monagi, had a successful year both academically and in sports. Adrine won two gold medals and one silver medal at the SOL 2023 XVII Pacific Games, and is on track with her endeavor to compete at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
We take this opportunity to thank our Oceania colleagues for their support and wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
